This is Presto, the third movement from Keyboard Sonata No. 6 in C Minor, by Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pescetti (1704–1766).
Presto was in ABRSM’s 2023–24 repertoire list for Grade 4 Piano, no longer applicable of course. Still, it makes for a wonderful teaching piece (particularly for technique building) as it’s conceptually simple and sounds fantastic at any tempo. I absolutely adore it. Might have to look at the first and second movements at some stage.
Meanwhile, enjoy this impromptu recording from one of the practice rooms at Queen Margaret College (Wellington, New Zealand), where I teach piano as an external music tutor.
