Valerie Capers – Billie’s Song (from Portraits in Jazz)

This is my interpretation of the gorgeous piece Billie’s Song, by American pianist and composer Valerie Capers.

It is one of 12 pieces from her book Portraits in Jazz, in which each piece draws on the style of a famous jazz artist. Billie’s Song is a reference to the jazz singer Billie Holiday.

This piece featured in ABRSM’s Grade 4 piano syllabus for 2023–24.
